Melbourne International Arts Festival is in Full Force
4th April 2020
For 17 days each October, the forces of dance, theatre, music, visual arts, and multimedia take to Melbourne, delivering the epic event that is the Melbourne International Arts Festival. It’s here yet again, and we’re all in.
Melbourne International Arts Festival is a true celebration of the connective power of art across mediums, individuals, and ideas, and year after year it enlivens the city with a swell of experiences that redefine our collective culture and understanding of the arts.
Now entering its second half of programming, there is surely no shortage of events for art-lovers to dive head first into as they enjoy the latter portion of the festival.
One of our favorites that is a continued must-see is The Nico Project, a captivating show featuring British actor Maxine Peake, who steps into the mindset of the famed German singer-songwriter Nico to deliver a performance unlike any other. Another program that we can’t stop thinking about is the immersive art installation from the Tokyo-based art collective called teamLab. Made up of mathematicians, architects, animators, artisans, and engineers, teamLab utilizes the modalities of technology and creativity to craft an experience you won’t forget.
From free outdoor programming and dining offers to genre-bending exhibits and performances that spn music, theatre, and circus, there’s truly something for everyone at the Melbourne International Arts Festival.
